COVID-19 update: Cases related to Saskatoon gathering hit 17, north sees no change in active cases

Thinking of throwing a big party during COVID-19? Please don't - Saskatoon has now had 17 cases of COVID-19 linked to a social gathering earlier this month.

The province reported 10 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday, with eight in Saskatoon and the other two in the central east health zone. Provincial health officials first reported the Saskatoon gathering Sept. 13 - since then, cases have included attendees and close contacts who did not attend. Contact tracing is still underway.

Saskatchewan has reported 101 active cases of the disease, with 12 more recoveries from COVID-19 reported.in the province. Four active cases of COVID-19 remain in the far north, including two people in the Far North East 2 zone including Creighton, Denare Beach and other Saskatchewan communities near Flin Flon. No new cases were reported in the zone Tuesday.

Four people are currently in Saskatchewan hospitals with COVID-19.

Manitoba reported at least one case in every health region except the Northern Health Region (NHR), with one case each in the Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority and Prairie Mountain Health, two in Southern Health-Sante Sud and 13 in Winnipeg. Manitoba's active case load is at 269 people with the disease as of Tuesday.

Possible exposures were reported at St. Aidan's Christian School in Winnipeg and at the Actionmarguerite seniors' facility, also in Winnipeg.
