Flin Flon’s Main Street coffee shop will be moving about a block away from its former site.

The Orange Toad will be relocating in the coming weeks, moving from their current location at 115 Main Street to 79 Main Street, the now-former site of Burkee’s Sports Lounge.

“We’re just going to start fresh,” said store owner Meagan Lukowich.

“What is exciting is that it’s a new start for us. We can design things how we would like to have them. It’s going to be cool.”

The move will provide Lukowich and the store’s staff a newer building while keeping their presence along Flin Flon’s main drag. It will be the second time the business has moved locations, having moved from the business’s original site at the intersection of Third Avenue and Hapnot Street to Main Street in the late 2000s.

The news has been an open secret for clientele recently.

“Everybody who walks through the door asks,” said Lukowich. “It’s kind of a weird thing.”

Little is anticipated to change as a result of the move. The shop’s menu will remain and the floor space in the new location will be about the same as the former site.

“We’re keeping our menu the same. It’s just going to be fresh and new. We’re not changing much about the Orange Toad except how our workplace functions and the address. Hopefully we’ll be faster and more efficient,” Lukowich said.

Some changes will come as a result of the switch, however. The Toad’s trademark orange awning will not be making the trip down the block. The outdoor seating area in front – an area recessed from the sidewalk at the current location – will not be part of the move at first due to there not being sufficient space.

“I’m not sure how the tables would work. We’ve lost that little bit of space off the sidewalk. I’m not sure how we’re going to pull that off, but there’s going to be cool things,” said Lukowich.

“There’s this new counter right in the window. Right from the very first Orange Toad, I’ve pictured a counter right across the window. In this one, we were able to do it. It’s exciting. It will be cool.”

The new store is tentatively set for a June 1 opening. There is no set date for when the existing Orange Toad will shut down.
