The City of Flin Flon is shutting down all City-run public facilities until further notice in the wake of COVID-19.

According to a media release sent out by the City March 16, city council and administration made the call to shut down Flin Flon City Hall, the Flin Flon Community Hall and R.H. Channing Auditorium, the Whitney Forum and the Flin Flon Curling Club until further notice.

"As the COVID-19 virus continues to spread across Canada with cases now emerging in Manitoba, City of Flin Flon Council and Administration have deemed public health and safety a top priority," reads the release.

The ground floor bus lobby at the Flin Flon Community Hall will stay open and bus transit services will continue as previously scheduled.

City council meetings will be held away from the public until further notice. The next scheduled meeting for city council was set to take place March 17.

"We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause; however, it is crucial we prioritize the safety of our community members above all else. Facility operations will resume as normal once it has been declared safe by health care professionals," said the City release.

"The City of Flin Flon will continue to monitor COVID-19 updates and respond accordingly."
