Not much is slated to change for the Flin Flon and District Chamber of Commerce this year.

Chamber officials chose to keep most of the group’s positions for 2019 similar to the ones from last year at their annual general meeting on Dec. 18.

This also holds true for the makeup of the chamber’s executive group as no changes are anticipated this year. President Karen MacKinnon will enter the second year of her two-year term, along with president-elect Becky Cianflone, vice-president Twyla Storey, treasurer Bunny Burke and secretary Kory Eastman.

The chamber’s finances for the previous year were also discussed. The financial statement, organized by board member and accountant Dave Kendall, showed a deficit of more than $8,000 in the group’s annual expenses.

The reason for the deficit, however, was not dramatic. Proceeds from the chamber’s biggest fundraising event, the annual radio auction, had not been entered when the statement was presented, leaving a shortfall of around $7,000 in the chamber’s finances.

In addition, chamber office manager Michelle Reid said about $3,000 in fundraising revenue had not been deposited before the statement was finalized. While the statement showed a loss, those two contributions would actually leave the chamber with a surplus.

Sales of chamber related merchandise, including geocache coins, dropped by about $300 in 2018 from 2017, but that was offset by a near $1,000 boost in fundraising elsewhere.

Overall operating expenses for the chamber rose by just shy of $800.
