RCMP have arrested five people after a string of armed robberies in Flin Flon.

The first of the armed robberies took place at around 5 a.m. July 23 at a home on Hill Street, when a 29-year-old man was robbed and assaulted by two male offenders, including being sprayed with bear spray. Police were advised that the man was heard calling for help outside the residence. The man was taken to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Two days later on July 25, police were called again at 8:20 p.m. after a reported robbery on a walking path near North Avenue. A 22-year-old man was robbed by four people. One of the four people was wielding a machete. Not long after the incident, RCMP were able to locate three suspects - a 16-year-old female, a 20-year-old female and a 23-year-old male - and arrested the three. The fourth suspect was not found at the time.

The next night around 10 p.m., police were called to Ecole McIsaac School, where a 16-year-old male was beaten and robbed. The male was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Two suspects, a male and female, had left the area by the time police arrived.

Things died down on the robbery front until August 2, when police were called to Lloydy's Corner Store around 7:15 p.m. after a male with a shirt wrapped around his face came inside with a machete, threatened an employee and demanded cigarettes. The male ran off before police arrived.

On August 7, Flin Flon RCMP arrested a 17-year-old male who was involved in all four robberies. The male faces a total of 21 separate charges, including two counts of robbery and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, one count each of robbery with a weapon, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, disguise with intent to commit a crime, assault, possession of a firearm while prohibited, unauthorized possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, resisting arrest and 10 separate counts of failure to comply.

A 23-year-old man from Flin Flon, identified by RCMP as Roger Wesley Custer, has been charged with robbery and assault. Custer has an extensive criminal history, including being wanted on a Canada-wide warrant in 2016 after escaping criminal custody in Prince Albert and assaults and a theft in 2017.

Another suspect, 20-year-old Haley Dumas from Denare Beach, has been arrested and faces charges of robbery, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm and two counts of failure to comply.

A pair of other offenders, a 16-year-old female and an 18-year-old male, both from Flin Flon, have also been arrested. The 16-year-old faces charges of robbery and possession of property obtained by crime, while the 18-year-old is facing charges of robbery and disguise with intent.

Neither the 16-year-old or the 17-year-old offenders can be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The 18-year-old offender was not identified by police.

RCMP continue to investigate the assaults and robberies, but do not believe there are any further suspects.
