WHL roundup: Blazers plow past Wheat Kings 5-2 in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS, B.C. — Daylan Kuefler scored two goals, Logan Stankoven chipped in with two assists, and the Kamloops Blazers won their fifth game of the Western Hockey League season by beating the Brandon Wheat Kings 5-2 at the Sandman Centre.

Connor Levis, Matthew Seminoff and Ethan Brandwood also netted goals for the Blazers (5-1-0-1), who were pegged at No. 7 in this week's CHL Top 10 rankings.

Nate Danielson and Logen Hammett scored for the Wheat Kings (4-4-1-0).

Kamloops outshot the visitors 45-34 and held period leads of 1-0 and 3-1.

ICE 3 ROYALS 2

VICTORIA, B.C. — The Winnipeg ICE, sitting No. 1 in this week's CHL Top 10 rankings, won their eighth game of the season by beating the Victoria Royals 3-2 on Vancouver Island.

Zach Benson, Matthew Savoie and Briley Wood scored for the ICE (8-1-0-0). Matthew Hodson and Teague Patton scored for the Royals (2-8-1-0).

Winnipeg was up 3-0 with less than four minutes to go in the third period when the Royals rallied with two goals, but the Victoria comeback came up short.

Winnipeg outshot Victoria 41-21.
