On Saturday, January 10, 22 youth from Flin Flon Youth Bowling competed in Thompson for the singles zone round of the Four Steps to Stardom Tournament. They bowled a total of five games straight and the winners were the highest total pinfall in each of the following categories: Bantam (ages 8-10) Girl & Boy; Junior (ages 11-13) Girl & Boy; Senior (ages 14-18) Girl & Boy. The following traveled for the competition: Bantams: Madison Rowe, Caitlin Keyes, Stephanie Lane-Broughton, Melissa Bolme, Tyler Sealey, Warren Bradt, Connor Trudeau, Kris Vleugels Juniors: Lori Kryschuk, Ashley MacDonald, Morgan Bryson, Orion Patoine, Joshua Ramshaw, Jesse Ramshaw, Joel Ramshaw Seniors: Kristy Asmundson, Danielle Kryschuk, Megan St. Hilaire, Victoria Brooks, Robert Bradt, Gordon Bradt, Matthieu Leifso Results of the tournament with the five-game total are as follows: Bantam Girls: Melissa 439; Stephanie 585; Kaitlyn Kelly (Thompson) 635; Crystal Ivereson (Thompson) 639; Caitlin Keyes 644; and the Zone champion by one point, Madison Rowe 645. Bantam Boys: Kris 306; Warren 561; Connor 602; Tyler 610; Austin Cocquyt (Gillam) 695; and the Zone champion-Taben Brandt (Thompson) 893. Taben was the only Bantam to bowl over 200, with a 226 first game, which he maintained the first place spot for all five games. Junior Girls: Racheal Birdsall (Thompson) 622; Bianca Okemow (Thompson) 708; Jessica Cater (Thompson) 741; Morgan 751; Orion 776; Ashley 788; Stevie McPherson (Crossroads) 808; and the Zone champion, Lori Kryschuk 832. Lori started with a 247, which was the high game bowled in this division. Junior Boys: Joshua Inglis (Crossroads) 631; Joel 815; Jesse 900; Joshua 925; and the Zone champion by only 25 pins, Trevor Cook (Thompson) with 950. Senior Girls: Victoria 721; Candace Smith (Thompson) 825; Ashley Correia (Thompson) 829; Megan 844; Kim Gallant (Thompson) 907; Kristy 937; and the Zone champion by only 55 pins, Danielle Kryschuk 992. Danielle bowled the high game of the tournament, 261. Senior Boys: Gordon 857; Matthieu 913; Robert 926; and the Zone champion, David Gallant (Thompson) 1055. The six zone champions will advance to the Four Steps to Stardom Provincials in Winnipeg on March 13, 2004. Winners from there will advance to Nationals held early May. To all competitors, you may not have come in first place, but you are all winners none the less. You all performed with excellent sportsmanship and bowled at least your averages. We are proud of all of you. To the champions, congratulations on your achievement and good luck at Provincials.
