Hapnot Kopper Kings and Kweens will be hosting visitors from Pugwash, Nova Scotia. Twenty-six youth from Hapnot Collegiate's basketball teams will be hosting 26 youth from the grade 11 class in Pugwash District School from February 10 to February 16 as part of their involvement in the YMCA Youth Exchanges Canada, a program of the YMCA of Greater Toronto. YMCA Youth Exchanges Canada promotes cross-cultural awareness and a sense of belonging among Canadian youth aged 12 to 18. Travel costs are funded by the Government of Canada through Exchanges Canada. The Kings and Kweens and Pugwash will participate in activities in the Bust the Winter Blues Festival, bowling, a tour of Flin Flon, the mine and the museum. YMCA Youth Exchanges sponsors exchanges between two groups of equal size in different communities. Each group hosts the other. During their stay the Kings and Kweens will live with the families of their twin group. Since 1976, thousands of young people have experienced the cultural and geographic diversity of Canada through participation in YMCA Youth Exchanges.
