For years the Community Youth Resource Centre has welcomed young people to play a few games, watch a movie or just be with their friends. Located in the basement of the First United Lutheran Church, the centre is also giving youth some valuable skills. Seven kids went through the the St. John Ambulance babysitters course in October. Last week, they accepted their certificates from instructor Leslie Beck. Earning certificates were Nadine McDermott, Natasha McDermott, Randine Highway, Roger Custer and Casandra Porteous Ð as well as two others who were not available during the presentation. Put on through the Flin Flon Indian-Mtis Friendship Centre, the course taught the youth the basics of First Aid as well as ways to keep children entertained. The Youth Resource Centre opened in April 2000 with the support of the Friendship Centre and the Manitoba government.
