Competing against some of the top teams in Saskatchewan, the Creighton girls' basketball team has held their own. Finishing anywhere from third to first place at various tournaments, the team has come together as one. In a tournament in Warman, Sask., coach Ryan Trumbley says they were some real highlights for the Kodiaks. "We held our own against everyone and lost by 10 points to Bellamy," said Trumbley, noting that Bellamy is the third-ranked team in the province. With a young team on his hands, Trumbley says there has been "lots of learning" but the team has begun to "peak at the right time." "Everything is coming together right now," said the coach. The team competed this past weekend in Prince Albert for the Conferences. "We're hoping we will do well," he said before the team left. Going into the tournament, the Kodiaks have beaten three of the five teams they will be faced against. "We have to play really good basketball, but we can do it," said Trumbley. Even though they are a young group of girls this year, the coach says they are really dedicated and excited to be playing. "We hope to continue...our success," he said. From the start of the basketball season until now, Trumbley says the team has "come a long way."
