Gyms at Hapnot Collegiate, McIsaac School Ecole McIsaac, Many Faces Education Centre and Creighton Community School will be full starting tomorrow afternoon as teams roll in from across Manitoba for the JV Volleyball Provincials. Twenty-two teams will meet up to play in round robin fashion with hopes of eliminating each other and becoming the provincial champions. Jaycee Halpin, a Grade 10 student, has been on the Kweens JV team for two years now and says this weekend will be harder for her than most. "I can't play because of an injury in zones," says the 15-year-old power. While this is Hapnot's first year to host the provincials, Halpin says it's going to be really hard not to be able to play. "It's tough not to play, but I come and cheer on my team," she says. The Kopper Kweens may not have Halpin this weekend, but she says "we've played these teams before and hopefully we can beat them again." As of press time Tuesday morning, the schedule for the tournament had not been released.
