The only thing Mike Reagan loves as much as hockey is teaching the ins and outs of the game to young people. The Flin Flon native will continue to do just that this August when his Xtreme Hockey School opens for its fifth year at the Whitney Forum. "I love seeing the enthusiasm of the kids," says Reagan, who was a fan favourite during his four seasons with the hometown Bombers. "You often get the same kids come back each year, and you can see how their skills have gotten better." The Xtreme Hockey School will operate from August 22-27 with instruction during the day and conditioning sessions in the evening. For three days the following week, Reagan and his team of instructors will offer a skills camp on stickhandling and shooting as well as clinics on bodychecking and powerskating. The school accepts players aged 6 to 15 for the day instruction and those 15 and up for the conditioning sessions. Since launching the Xtreme Hockey School in Flin Flon in 2001, Reagan has expanded his enterprise into Connecticut and Chicago. This summer, he expects to enroll as many as 300 young athletes between all three locations. After wrapping up his stint with the Bombers, Reagan attended Connecticut's Sacred Heart University on a hockey scholarship, graduating last year with a business administration degree. He still laces up his skates, however, having played at various levels this year in Texas, North Carolina and Quebec. Watch The Reminder in the coming months for more on the school.
