With 31 points, Boehm leads all rookie scorers

Kelly Carrington Staff Writer Brett Boehm came to the Flin Flon Bombers from Martensville, Sask., and has made a name for himself in the first half of the season. Following Tuesday's game against the La Ronge Ice Wolves, the right-wing continued to lead all SJHL rookies in scoring. In 28 games, Boehm has picked up 17 goals and 14 assists for 31 points _ five more than second-place Sam Aulie of Notre Dame. Boehm's teammate Brody Robinson has six goals and 12 assists for 18 points in 32 games as the only other Bomber rookie to make the top 20 list. The second-leading rookie scorer, Notre Dame's Aulie, had 15 goals and 11 assists for 26 points in 33 games. In third place, Josh Betinol of the Battlefords North Stars had 23 points _ 11 goals and 12 assists _ in 28 games. La Ronge's Braden Oleksyn took fourth place with his nine goals, 13 assists and 22 points in 36 games. Oleksyn has played the most games of any player in the top 20 rookie scorers, and eight more than Boehm. Jake McMillen earned fifth place in the rookie scoring rankings with 10 goals and 11 assists, good for 21 points, in 30 games for the North Stars. Flin Flon's Josh Roach led all league defenseman with 36 points following Tuesday's action. The blueliner had amassed nine goals and 27 assists in 33 games. Teammate Dallen Hall was seventh among defensemen with one goal and 16 assists, good for 17 points, in 32 games. Another Bomber blueliner, Tanner Clark, was 11th with two goals, 13 assists and 15 points in 32 games.
