Winter is here to stay, and that’s a fact.
But that doesn’t mean you have to hibernate inside.
The Town of Creighton is making sure the winter season gets started properly with this year’s Winter Wonderland, on December 14.
A bonfire, fireworks, and both indoor and outdoor activities will keep everyone entertained at this year’s event.
This is the second time running for the Winter Wonderland day and Creighton Recreation Director Channa Senyk hopes to see lots of faces.
“We’re hoping to see lots of families out,” said Senyk.
“It is open to everyone – no matter where you live.”
Winter Wonderland will kick off with a few daytime activities from 1-3 p.m. at the Creighton Sportex and then wrap up at 6 p.m. with winter fireworks over the Creighton Community Soccer Field.
The Creighton Fire Department will be on hand throughout the day as a fire will burn in the Sportex parking lot to keep everyone warm.
There will be smooshing and snow dog races outside, as well.
Horsedrawn sleigh rides will also be leaving from the Sportex parking lot.
Inside the Sportex, where it will be warmer, there will be a free skate as well as a target shooting with hockey sticks and pucks, face painting, balloon animals, crafts, and a fish pond.
The outside temperatures won’t be crashing any parties this year as the Winter Wonderland will go on regardless of the weather.
The Winter Wonderland replaces what used to be the Children’s Christmas Party in Creighton.
Notices will be delivered to students at the schools as well as area day cares with more information on the event.
The bonfire at last year’s Winter Wonderland was a great success as people used to to stay toasty warm.
The fireworks at last year’s Winter Wonderland lit up the sky with all kinds of colours. Don’t miss the show again this year on December 14 over the Creighton Community School Field.
