The Host Society of the 2014 Power Smart Manitoba Games is excited to announce a $10,000 Friends of the Games sponsorship from the Access Credit Union. This contribution from Access Credit Union will go a long way in helping the 2014 Morden Stanley Winkler Manitoba Winter Games Host Society reach their goal of $328,000. The money raised through the Friends of the Games program will be used to cover the expenses of the largest multi-sport event in the province including athlete housing, food, athlete transportation and upgrades to the local sporting venues. Athletes from the North of the province, like Flin Flon, The Pas, Cranberry Portage, and Thompson, compete in the Winter and Summer Game each year they are hosted. 'We are very thankful for this contribution from the Access Credit Union and hope that this will really kick start our fundraising campaign,' said Dan Giesbrecht, Co-Chair of the Games. 'Morden, Stanley, and Winkler are full of generous businesses and we look forward to building partnerships with many more.' The 2014 Power Smart Manitoba Games will allow the Morden, Stanley, and Winkler areas to showcase leadership, work-ethic, friendliness, and the opportunities that our communities offer. The Games will bring economic activity to the region and generate a sense of togetherness within Morden, Stanley, and Winkler. The goals of the 2014 Manitoba Games Host Society are to promote sport in the area and leave a legacy of teamwork, pride, volunteerism and community spirit. The 2014 Power Smart Manitoba Winter Games are taking place March 2-8, 2014 and are being held in the City of Morden, the RM of Stanley, and the city of Winkler. Upwards of 7,500 athletes, coaches, officials, and volunteers will participate in the Games. This is the province's largest ongoing multi-sport program bringing together participants from across the province, and are held every two years and alternate between summer and winter sports events.
