The Flin Flon Bombers were so close to getting their five-game winning streak before Christmas as they took on the Battlefords North Stars Friday night and won 5-1. But it was the Kindersley Klippers who gave them a ride for their money and took down the Bombers 6-1 Saturday night. The Maroon and White took a beating Saturday night as the Klippers got their first goal of the game past Calvin Bartel after only 2:35 of play. Jayde Dunser scored the first and only goal of the first period, on a power play, with help from teammates Ryan Sawka and Brett Leedahl. Only two penalties in the first period, one for each team. Bomber David Linsley sat his two minutes out for interference, which gave the Klipper's their power play goal. Kindersley's Kalib Tunderchief also sat two minutes out for interference, later on in the period, giving the Bombers a power place chance, but the Maroon and White were unable to score. The Bombers finished off the first period with seven shots on net, while the Klippers managed 13 on Bartel. Going into the second period, with a score of 1-0, for the home team, wasn't enough for the Klippers as they fired off another three goals. Jonathan Redlick, assisted by Sawka and Dunser, got one past Bartel, on a power play 3:42 into the period. Dunser scored his second of the night as he was fed by Justin Perreaux and Redlick on a power play. With the score now 3-0, the Klippers managed to light the lantern one last time that period as Leedhal, with help from Sawka and Redlick, found the back of the net. The Bombers found themselves in the penalty four times during the second 20 minutes of play. J.M Allard was sentences to two minutes for interference, while Barrett Penner received two minutes for slashing. Klipper Jerrett Bicknell was put away for two minutes for interference as well while teammate Mat Olsen was called on slashing, giving him two minutes as well. Jean-Sebastien Bergeron found himself in the box twice for high sticking, as did Olsen. Leedhal rounded out the penalties as he was called on cross checking. The second period saw the Bombers try nine times at the net while the Klippers managed 18 against Bartel. The third period saw the Klippers score their final two goals of the night while Flin Flon finally got one past Ryan Nieszner. Klipper Ben Ritchie got things started as he found the back of the net after being fed by Bicknell and Matthew York after 3:12 of the final period. With the score now 5-0, the Klippers rounded out their scoring when Olsen got one past Bartel with help from Dunser and Scott Linnell. Bomber Pierre-Luc Boucher finally got the puck past Kindersley, with less than a minute to go in the game. Helping on the Bomber goal were linemates Myles Masse and Michael Young. Four penalties were dished out for the final stretch of the game as Reid MacLeod was called on holding the stick, giving himself two minutes behind the glass. Klipper Leedhal was given two minutes for being an ineligible player and a 10 minute misconduct and Perreaux was called on hooking. For the entire game, the Bombers had 31 shots on Nieszner while Bartel saw 41 pucks come his way. The Bombers finished up their games Saturday night before heading out on their Christmas break.
