Local anglers hit the lakes from boats, the shore, and docks as they hoped for the big catch. Sheldon Wiebe was the big winner of the Trout Festival 48-hour fishing derby as he reeled in a 43' trout good for $1,000. The following is a list of prize winners from the Trout Festival derby: 1st prize top trout: Sheldon Wiebe 43' ($1000) 2nd prize top walleye: Joby Nomeland 31' ($500) 3rd prize top pike: Glen Burkett 39.5' ($250) Top prizes for children under 12 supplied by Walmart: Top trout: Mike Ward (age 11) 22.25' Top walleye: Jordan Donaghy (age 6) 26.5' Top pike: Blaine Wilson (age 9) 31' The following winners receive a prize donated by the Trout Festival: Most walleye entered: Jason Donaghy 19 entries Most pike entered: Arin Stevens 22 entries Most trout entered: Kirk Doverspike 7 entries Smallest entry: Lee-Ann Andres _ pike 10.75' The following hidden length winners can pick a prize from the table or one will be selected from the remaining and held for pickup upon contact.
