Who's back: 1989 G Matt Weninger (last season: 15-13-2, 3.15, .899). 1989 D Michael Young (42-20-29-49); 1989 D Brennen Cox (56-2-12-14); 1990 D/F Tanner Korchinski (56-4-7-11); 1990 D Pat Sitko (43-1-8-9); 1989 D Kevin Carpenter (21-1-3-4). 1989 F Alex Lamontagne (56-24-35-59); 1990 F Cole Wilson (37-22-24-46); 1990 F Devin Mitzner (50-21-14-35); 1990 F Mathieu Lecours (43-8-25-33); 1989 F Dominic Martel (45-9-13-22); 1990 F Doug McLeod (55-9-10-19); 1989 F David Dykstra (43-9-6-15); 1990 F Mitch Dougall (51-3-6-9); 1990 F Ben Bitz (38-3-3-6). Who's not: Tommy Castonguay (to NCAA); Reid MacLeod (NCAA); Josh Garneau (ACAC); Harley Garrioch (NCAA); Jean-Sebastien Bergeron (NCAA); Louis Labbe (traded); Ryan Kerpan (awaiting trade). Who might be new: 1991 G Klynt Spencer (Lethbridge AMAAAHL 14-2-4, 2.40, .906)ÉSpencer had the third best GAA in Alberta last season and projects as the heir apparent to Weninger. 1991 D David Roper (Calgary Royals AMAAAHL 33-6-14-20)ÉCoach Mike Reagan is confident Roper is going to be an above-average SJHL defenseman. His styles meshes well with the league. 1990 D Lane Wagner (Okotoks HJHL)ÉLooks steady, not flashy. Reagan hopes he can be a regular by filling a depth role. 1991 D Jonathan Young (UFA Bisons AMAAAHL 32-4-4-8)ÉMichael's younger brother has come into camp in good shape. He's a hard hitter and is the cause of a couple of injuries in camp based on his aggressive nature. He looks for the big hit. 1991 D David Chapados (Rimouski Midget AA) É. Chapados likes to lead the rush, has good size and his play may suit the college the game well. His academics are good and he wants a scholarship. It sounds as though Drummondville (QMJHL) had a spot for him, but he chose the Bombers instead. 1991 F Andrew Johnston (Contacts SMAAAHL 43-13-26-39)ÉJohnston exploded in the playoffs with 25 points in just 10 games. He's highly skilled and one of the Bombers' top recruits of the summer. In camp, he hasn't disappointed and projects as a potential SJHL Rookie of the Year candidate. He was heavily recruited, so much so that Reagan felt he could contribute as a 16-year-old two seasons ago. 1992 F Jesse Mychan (Contacts SMAAAHL 42-22-13-35)ÉMychan has all the tools to be an excellent SJHL power forward. He has a good shot, skates well. Notes 1990 D Scott Brkich is in Calgary WHL camp. He was released from Moose Jaw, reported to Flin Flon and just prior to hitting the ice for practice, got a call from the Hitmen. 1992 F Brock Montgomery is with Kootenay and the Bombers will be watching his progress closely. "If it doesn't work out for him in the Western League, we'll make room for him," says Reagan. 1993 F TJ Constant is with the Prince Albert Raiders and he's only 16, but the Bombers would give him a long look in case the Raiders deem more seasoning for the youngster. Injuries are starting to pile up as well. Reagan was hoping to take a better look at some 1992 born players, but they've been unable to compete after getting sidelined. "I like the position we are in. It would be nice to rebuild with all of the young players that are so talented coming in," said Reagan, who followed that comment by admitting there are high expectations in Flin Flon in 2009-10.
