Flin Flon Bomber Matt Weninger was in the race to set the shutout record for the SJHL, but AJ Whiffen beat him to it. Whiffen made 17 saves to lead the Weyburn Red Wings to a 7-0 win over the Notre Dame Hounds last Tuesday night and at the same time set a new SJHL regular season record for career shutouts with his 11th career dough-nut. It was Whiffen's fourth shutout of the season and it lowered his league-leading-goals against average to 2.14. Whiffen has recorded a shutout in two of his last three starts. The old record of 10 career shutouts was set by Taylor Nelson of the Humboldt Broncos in 2007-08. Heading into the final two weeks of the season, Humboldt's Andrew Bodnarchuk and Flin Flon's Matt Weninger each have nine career shutouts. The Bombers took on the Battlefords North Stars this past weekend, the the games had not been played prior to press time.
