Kelly Carrington Staff Writer Flin Flon Bomber returnee Brandt Weldon light up the lantern for the SJHL as he was named as the SJHL Defenseman of the Week The Pas native opened the season with three goals and six assists in the first six games. Honourable mentions for Dman of the Week went to Carson Grolla (Notre Dame), Jeff Datoff (Nipawin) and fellow Flonner Tanner Clark. Flin Flon's Jay Young earned himself an honourable mention in the Player of the Week category, with the main title going to Tad Kozun of the Nipawin Hawks. Five goals and four assists in five games put the Hawk in first place. Other honourable mentions went to Todd Christian (Notre Dame) and Calder Neufeld (Estevan). High remarks went to net minder Matt Hrynkiw of the Humboldt Broncos after winning both os his starts and stopping 39 of 40 shots. Honourable mentions went to goalie Ty Reichenbach (Notre Dame), David Jones (Nipawin) and Justin McDonald (Kindersley). The Bombers will have their chance to earn more top picks as well as honourable mentions as they host the Kindersley Klippers this weekend and the La Ronge Ice Wolves next weekend.
