‘We controlled the play’: Flin Flon Bombers coach satisfied despite loss

After falling to Yorkton and beating Melville earlier in the week, the Flin Flon Bombers lost to the Melfort Mustangs 4-2 on Saturday, Feb. 13. Melfort led 1-0 and 3-0 at the intermissions. The Bombers mounted a comeback in the third period.

After falling to Yorkton and beating Melville earlier in the week, the Flin Flon Bombers lost to the Melfort Mustangs 4-2 on Saturday, Feb. 13.

Melfort led 1-0 and 3-0 at the intermissions. The Bombers mounted a comeback in the third period. Flin Flon outshot Melfort 20-11 in the third period and 50-29 for the game.

“I thought we controlled the play,” Bombers head coach Mike Reagan said. “I thought we outplayed them for 75 per cent of the game. Just couldn’t score. … I couldn’t ask the guys to play any better.”

Flin Flon now has a 30-17-0-4 overall record.

The Bombers have been the league’s hottest team since Dec. 1, posting an SJHL-best 19-5 record since then.

Flin Flon’s lone game this week comes Saturday when it hosts Notre Dame (21-21-4-3).
