A new school year has started and Creighton has wasted no time in preparing for a new volleyball season. The boys and girls team will get their first taste of competitive action when the team hosts a tournament on Sept.16 and 17. During the eight team tournament, Creighton will face Thompson, Cranberry Portage and Hapnot Collegiate. Coach Jason Straile likes what he sees in his team already. "The girls team is very young and inexperienced," says Straile, "but we'll be competitive. I like their energy, they work hard and are going to be a good team." Volleyball isn't the only other sport happening as cross country running is making a debut and Straile says signs are positve with 20 kids joining. "It's pretty good for first year," he says. "It's excellent as it offers another avenue for athletes and individual type sports." He noted that having cross country running is a good way to get kids involved in something that's normally tough to get them to do. "Having a goal helps encourage them to run and it's a life-long activity."9/9/05
