The Cranberry Portage Eagles have completed a very remarkable volleyball season. The Eagles are the Grade 7 and 8 boys and girls volleyball teams from Cranberry Portage Elementary School. Both boys and girls have achieved great success this season. The boys' team finished first overall in the Flin Flon, Creighton and Cranberry Grade 7 and 8 volleyball league. After losing a close one in the finals last year to McIsaac, the boys were able to upset them this year and bring the league championship home to Cranberry Portage. The girls' team also deserves praise for their efforts this season. They came a close second in the Flin Flon Grade 7 and 8 tournament with a loss in the finals to McIsaac. It was a great job by the McIsaac Girls. But Cranberry had their number in the Flin Flon, Creighton and Cranberry Grade 7 and 8 volleyball league finals. The Eagles defeated McIsaac, also bringing home the league championship title to Cranberry Portage. The girls then went onto further victory, winning first place in The Pas Grade 7 and 8 volleyball tournament, turning away 15 other girls' teams. Good luck to the girls this weekend as they are on their way to Winnipeg to compete in the Team Canada Junior High Volleyball Challenge. It's a tournament hosted by Canada's Women's National/Olympic team. It was a great volleyball season at Cranberry Portage Elementary School. For a school that has a population of less than 100 students and volleyball teams made up of their entire Grade 7 and 8 class, it was a season to be proud of.
