Blocking, bumping and spiking may sound like clumsy terms, but they require plenty of skill and practice. That's why Konrad Plante of the Manitoba Volleyball Association (MVA) was so eager to teach the ins and outs of the sport at the Hapnot Collegiate gymnasium this week. "It's nice to see rural areas promote the game of volleyball," said Plante, a provincial level coach from Brandon. Plante's three-day clinic, which wrapped up Wednesday, split participants up according to age. A total of 25 youths took part in the grades 6-8 level, while another 25 signed up at the high school level. The clinic was part of the MVA's "Volleyball on the Road" program for rural communities. Plante said it had been five or six years since the clinic was last held in Flin Flon.
