As another hockey season approaches, the Whitney Forum has been undergoing numerous changes to better serve its patrons. Public safety is always a priority, therefore safety netting will be in place at all times at the Whitney Forum. The City of Flin Flon Parks & Recreation Commission recognizes that the existing netting is not acceptable and will be replacing it as soon as possible with a new approved product. The insurer for the City of Flin Flon has advised that the existing netting will have to remain in place until the new netting is available for installation. This will present an inconvenience to hockey fans for a short period of time. Please have patience with the City of Flin Flon and the Flin Flon Junior Bomber Hockey Club during this transition time. The new netting is expected to be in place between late September and mid-October. As the movement towards spectator protection is taking place at all levels of sport, safety netting will eventually be mandatory, and not in the control of the facility operator. Over the summer, Whitney Forum staff undertook a painting project of the seating to upgrade the appearance of the facility. A very modern, attractive colour combination of gold and black has received numerous compliments. The management and staff of the Whitney Forum look forward to your anticipated cooperation during this upcoming season as they strive to provide a safe, quality facility.
