Submitted by Corrie Pomarenski Flin Flon entered five teams in the Harder Avalon Classic Soccer Tournament in Saskatoon on June 1-3. The U12 Girls played outstandingly well and won the tournament in their Division 3 category. The girls only let in one goal in their five games. They won all four matches in their round robin (2-1, 3-0, 4-0 and 1-0). This put them in first place in their pool and placed the first place team in the second pool. They continued to play focussed and as a team to win their final 2-0. This was a great win as they lost last year in the semi-final in a very close game. We are looking forward to the next tournament in Saskatoon on June 15-17, where we are the defending champions from last year. The U12 Boys team also played outstandingly well. This is a novice team that is made up of 10 and under boys. Because there was no U10 division, the boys team registered in the higher age category. We also played up a division as there were no other Division 4 teams. Thus, the boys were playing teams that consisted of boys two years older than they were. They played four round robin games that resulted in the following scores: 3-3, 1-0 (loss), 2-0 (loss) and 6-3 (loss). Very proud Rob Abbott and I were very proud of the boys in their first tournament as they played with heart and determination in every match. We are really looking forward to the next tournament in Saskatoon. In the June tournament the boys will be playing in the same U12 category, but will be able to compete in division 4 _ where they belong. The U12 boys team was coached by Corrie Pomarenski and Rob Abbott. The U12 girls team had Pomarenski on the bench as well as Tyler Kittle and Ginger Finnie.
