For the second time this season, Flin Flon Bombers forward Alex Smith has been named the Canalta Hotels SJHL Player of the Week.
Smith helped the Bombers win a pair of games last weekend, moving them above the .500 mark on the season.
On Friday, Dec. 4, Smith had four assists in the Bombers’ 6-0 win against the Nipawin Hawks, and added a goal and another helper in their 8-3 win against the Estevan Bruins on Saturday, Dec. 5.
On the season Smith has 39 points (16G, 23A) in 29 games, good for fourth overall in the SJHL as of Tuesday afternoon.
Along with Smith, forward Josh Hayward was named the SJHL Rookie of the Week.
Hayward, who was acquired by the Bombers from the Okotoks Oilers of the AJHL at the beginning of the season, also contributed offensively in the team’s two wins.
Friday saw Hayward net two goals against the Hawks and he scored another on Saturday against the Bruins.
Overall Hayward has 10 points (6G, 4A) in 18 games with the Bombers.
