From big urban cities to rustic towns and small communities, TSN travels across the country to honour Canada's passion for hockey with a special six-hour tribute entitled Canada's Game: Hockey Lives Here, airing Saturday, Feb. 19 from 12 noon to 6 p.m. ET. From Vancouver to Whitehorse to New Brunswick and everywhere in between, TSN has found inspirational, unforgettable, enlightening and entertaining hockey stories and events that demonstrate Canada's passion for and devotion to the great frozen game. "Millions of people across the country feel a connection to hockey. It's a sport, like no other, that brings Canadians together," said Phil King, President, TSN. "Whether it's professional, international, amateur or recreational, Canadians love hockey. There should be a day to celebrate this great game of ours, and Canada's Game: Hockey Lives Here does just that." Throughout Canada's Game: Hockey Lives Here, TSN will travel to 10 locations, bringing viewers the following stories/events: Plaster Rock, N.B. - 4th annual World Pond Hockey Championships TSN's James Duthie and Glenn Healy will be on site to conduct interviews with players, coaches and fans. Coverage includes live game footage from the tourney, which features 96 teams from across North America and elsewhere, playing on 24 sheets of ice. Quebec City - 46th annual Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament TSN will broadcast live from the 46th annual Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament. Attracting over 200,000 hockey fans every nyear, the tournament involves more than 2,300 players from 16 countries around the world. TSN's resident hockey experts Pierre McGuire and Bob McKenzie will be on hand at Quebec City's Pepsi Colisee to offer commentary on the games and conduct live interviews with players, coaches and local fans. Joining McGuire and McKenzie will be Scotty Bowman, one of the most successful coaches in NHL history. Whitehorse, Yukon Territories - hockey game on the Yukon River In conjunction with the Aboriginal People's Television Network and Northern Native Broadcasting, TSN will broadcast live segments from a special hockey game being played on the Yukon River. TSN's Ryan Rishaug will broadcast live from the Yukon River, conducting interviews with players, coaches and local fans. Features include a look back at the Dawson City Nuggets' journey to play in the Stanley Cup in 1905; an overview of the 25-year-old Native hockey tournament; a look at the largest dogsled race in the North; an interview with the Mayor of Whitehorse; and a look ahead to the 2007 Canada Winter Games, which will be hosted by Whitehorse. Calgary - The Pengrowth Saddledome - coaching clinics Coach Marc Habscheid (Team Canada head coach at the 2003 World Juniors and an 11-year NHL veteran) will conduct hockey clinics with boys' and girls' minor hockey teams. TSN's Gord Miller will also be on hand to conduct live interviews with Marc, the players and local fans. Kingston, Ont. - celebrity 3-on-3 hockey game TSN will broadcast live segments from the 3-on-3 celebrity hockey tournament at The Market Square Feb Fest 'Limestone Classic' featuring Canadian hockey favourites Kirk Muller, Doug Gilmour and Dale Hawerchuk. The big event is expected to draw more than 2,000 hockey fans. TSN's 'Off The Record' host Michael Landsberg will be broadcasting live from the streets surrounding Kingston City Hall, interviewing players and fans. Landsberg will also be hosting special 'Off The Record' segments, putting both players and fans in the hot seat. Porcupine Plain, Sask. - Darren Dutchyshen and The Stanley Cup TSN's Darren Dutchyshen, who hails from Porcupine Plain, heads home with a special friend in tow - The Stanley Cup! Dutchy will be showing off Lord Stanley to local hockey fans in-and-around Saskatchewan, and will also visit Porcupine Plain's refurbished Chase Place Arena. Brent Butt, star of the hit CTV series Corner Gas which is filmed in Saskatchewan, dropped by the studio to have a chat with Dutchy. Toronto - how to build an outdoor rink TSN veteran Gino Reda will lace up his skates and host live from TSN's very own outdoor rink, located in the network's backyard. Reda will be joined by official NHL icemaker Dan Craig, who will provide step-by-step instructions on how viewers can build their own backyard rinks. Thunder Bay, Ont. - CIS hockey game See 'CIS' P.# Con't from P.# TSN will broadcast portions of the CIS hockey game featuring Lakehead University vs. University of Western Ontario. TSN's Dave Randorf will call the play-by-play alongside analyst Gary Green. Randorf will also host special features about the popularity of the Lakehead hockey team and the way in which Thunder Bay locals have embraced the squad. Vancouver and Whistler, B.C. - junior hockey TSN hockey analyst Brian Burke examines the popularity of junior hockey in Canada and looks ahead to next year's IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship, which takes place in Vancouver. Burke also explores how B.C.'s uniquely warm Canadian climate plays a role in the province's hockey scene. Ottawa - hockey in Canada's capital TSN's Brent Wallace will be on hand as Canada's Game visits Canada's capital. Ottawa begins its celebration with 115 simultaneous hockey games along the Rideau Canal Skateway. The Skateway also plays host to several other events, including an alumni hockey game featuring veterans from the Montreal Canadiens and the Ottawa Senators. As part of the day's festivities, Canada's Game: Hockey Lives Here also includes: Tournament in an Hour - a recap of the 2005 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship. Features include Brent Sutter as an old-school coach and architect of Canada's 2005 gold medal team, Team Canada forward Nigel Dawes' personal video diary of this year's gold medal celebrations, and how grassroots hockey initiatives have contributed to Canada's recent success in international hockey. Tournament in an Hour also highlights all the great goals, hits, shots and saves throughout the 2005 tournament Feature on Wayne Gretzky's Fantasy Camp 12 hockey home videos, submitted by viewers across Canada Results of TSN.ca's online poll, which asked fans to select their favourite hockey players by province NHL Network will televise encores of Canada's Game: Hockey Lives Here on Sunday, Feb. 20 at 12 a.m. ET, 6 a.m. ET and 12 noon ET. Throughout the day on February 19, NHL Network has a unique Canadian hockey lineup that includes special features on the all-time Top 10 players from each of the six Canadian NHL teams, a 2003/04 Season Review of Canada's six teams, the 2004 Heritage Classic featuring Montreal @ Edmonton at 6 p.m. ET, and two Game 7s from the 2004 Stanley Cup Playoff with Ottawa @ Toronto at 8 p.m. ET and Calgary @ Vancouver at 10 p.m. ET. ESPN Classic Canada will televise special hockey-themed programming on February 19 with a 12-hour tribute to the greatest goal scorers of all time. Coverage begins at 12 noon ET and includes selected highlights of superstar snipers such as Mario Lemieux's 500th goal, a seven-point game from The Great One - Wayne Gretzky, and features on prolific goal scorers Maurice 'Rocket' Richard, Mike Bossy, Marcel Dionne, Guy Lafleur, Bobby Hull and Phil Esposito.
