The Melfort Mustangs and Battlefords North Stars have announced a 1-for-1 trade that could help the Stars right away and the Mustangs a little further down the road. Battlefords receives 1986 born forward Rob Holoien from the Mustangs in exchange for 1988 born forward Adam Matlock. In Holoien, the Stars get a big forward at 6'3", 186 lbs who has shown an ability to put up decent numbers. Despite an injury plagued 2004-05 campaign, Holoien managed 4-goals and 5-assists in 12-games. He was also hurt in the playoffs, dressing for just two contests. Holoien also played five games with the WHL's Tri-Cities Americans and recorded one goal. It's possible Holoien may explore his major junior options further heading into 2005-06, but he would also be a very welcomed addition to the defending Itech Conference champions.Ê In 2003-04, the Melfort native was the Saskatchewan 'AAA' Midget Hockey League's fourth leading scorer with 60-points in 43-games. In Matlock, the Mustangs pick up some hope for the future. Still with one year of midget eligibility remaining, Matlock put up 9-goals and 18-assists in 44-games with his hometown Prince Albert Mintos last season. Meanwhile, the Mustangs also announced the signing of 1987 born defenseman Dillin Stonehouse to a player card for the upcoming season.Ê "We are really excited about having Dillin in our camp. He's a very creative defenseman on the back end and we think he can help us," said Melfort Head Coach/General Manager Darrell Mann.Ê Stonehouse actually dressed for 22-games with the Manitoba Junior Hockey League's Neepawa Natives and picked up 2-assists.Ê He returned to the midget ranks with the Yellowhead Chiefs to end the season and scored 4-goals and 10-assists in 23-games.Ê The Elkhorn, MB product also had 66-penalty minutes in 'AAA' Midget. There was one other trade in the SJHL on Tuesday as the Kindersley Klippers moved 1985 born forward Justin Wilchynski to the Powell River Kings of the British Columbia Hockey League for future considerations. Wilchynski, a 6'3" 195 lbs forward from Swift Current, dressed for only four games last season as he was on the shelf with a shoulder injury for most of the year.Ê However, he did play in all eight of Kindersley's playoff games and totaled 24-penalty minutes. As an SJHL rookie in 2003-04, Wilchynski scored 7-goals and 12-assists in 52-games and also logged 69-penalty minutes.
