Students from Cranberry Portage, McIsaac School Ecole McIsaac and Ruth Betts School put their best foot forward Thursday afternoon as they set to compete in a two-kilometer race. The 40 students started off in Creekside Park and made their way around the fitness trail twice. Organizer John Belfry, a Flin Flon School Division consultant, says the competition is good for the students. "It's a competition but at the same time we've got ribbons here for everyone," he says, "so it's for fun, too." Some members of the schools' cross-country running teams have been practicing for weeks. And Belfry says that "some kids are out here because they love to run and some are out here because they want the exercise." Either way, the students were able to use the fitness trail run as a warm up for the Northern Zones, which took place over the weekend.
