Teams from Thompson swept the Pee Wee 'A' and 'AA' hockey tournament held in Flin Flon and Creighton over the weekend. In the 'A' finals, Thompson beat Flin Flon 5-4 in overtime, while the 'AA' finals saw Thompson beat Flin Flon 4-0. Both Flin Flon and Thompson 'A' teams walked through the round robin undefeated to meet in the finals. Flin Flon beat OCN 8-4, Swan Valley 8-5 and The Pas 5-1 to hold a perfect 3-0 record, while Thompson earned victories of 8-2 over OCN, 9-0 over Norway House and 4-2 over The Pas. The OCN Thunder finished with a 1-2 record, while Norway House went without a win. In the consolation game, OCN defeated Norway House 9-2. Swan Valley and The Pas both finished with 1-2 records to play in the bronze game, where Swan Valley won 7-4. In the finals, Flin Flon scored with their net empty to tie the game and send it to overtime. Nothing was decided during the first three extra frames, and during 2-on-2 play, Thompson finally scored. In round robin action on the 'AA' side, Flin Flon earned wins over Swan Valley 6-1 and The Pas 8-6, but lost 5-4 to Thompson, who also beat The Pas 6-1 and tied Swan Valley. The Pas finished the round robin with a 1-2 record, while Swan picked up their only point in the tie against Thompson. In the semifinals, Flin Flon edged The Pas 6-5, while Thompson had an easy time with Swan Valley, beating them 7-2. Flin Flon played well in the finals but ran into a hot goaltender in the Thompson net, who shut out the Bombers 4-0.
