Flin Flon Bomber fans love the third jersey and it's successful on the ice, too. "I think they're phenomenal and I think they need to wear them at every game," said Bombers fan Karalee Richard. "They seem to play a lot better when they wear those jerseys." Richard isn't the only one who shares that opinion. "I think they skate better in it and I just think it's better with their overall performance," said Tammy Switzer, during a recent game against the Yorkton Terriers. "It boosts them up I think. It's a nice new look. I would like to see one in a white colour." It's hard to argue against those thoughts when the team is 6-1 wearing the sweaters. The first loss came Wednesday against the Melfort Mustangs in Melfort. The craze of the jerseys wasn't quite what Bombers marketing representative Lee Deary expected. "I'm ecstatic fans have embraced the jersey, but I was still apprehensive before the unveiling," Deary said. "The only complaint is you can't buy them." Deary was asked if it's possible the third jersey would eventually replace the traditional one and his answer was simple. "Never," Deary said. "It will never. It's not meant to replace it. You can't mess with tradition." "I think they're nice, it's a certainly a change from what we're accustomed to," said Pat Spiller. Nathan Johnson likes the explosion, where a miner is mining, and at the bottom of the jersey, where all the rocks are coming up. Other young fans share that opinion. Those interviewed said it's important that the traditional logo be combined. "No, I think they should have the original Bomber logo on there," explained Joan Holinaty, mother of Bombers defenseman, David Holinaty. "Just because that's the Bomber we're used to seeing and the tradition we've seen all along. It's important to maintain that tradition. "We think they're great, we love them," Holinaty said. "They're really colourful, they're kind of different, they stand out really nicely." Holinaty's parents travel to some of the Bombers road games and said the jerseys have caught people's interest. "Lots of people asked about the jerseys when we were in Battlefords' and Kindersley," she said. "Melfort too, they were really interested in the jerseys, and what the logo was and what the bottom part was." As popular as the jersey is with fans, it's also a hit with the guys who wear them. "I think they're very gratifying," said Bombers goalie Travis Crickard. "I think they're very well done by Lee Deary and he did a good job of putting in the heritage of Flin Flon with how it's a mining town." Crickard likes the miner and the smoke stack incorporated in the logo. "If it wasn't maroon, it wouldn't be Flin Flon Bomber colours. I think as a team we look sexy in them."
