Flin Flon’s foursome of Sonny Audet (from left), Brian Humphries, Perry Burton and Gary Lyons will represent Manitoba and northern Ontario in the Royal Canadian Legion’s Dominion Darts Championships next weekend in Surrey, BC.

Flin Flon’s Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 73 team will represent Manitoba at the Legion’s national darts tournament.

With two teams closely trailing, things came down to the wire for the team at the Provincial Command Darts Championship held in Flin Flon over the weekend.

Sonny Audet aimed perfectly and earned the provincial title with double fives along with teammates Perry Burton, Brian Humphries and Gary Lyons.

“When the end was on the line [we] nailed it,” Audet said moments after the team won. “And that is team play.”

The foursome was one of six of teams playing in the Command Darts Championships at Flin Flon’s Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 73.

Audet, Burton, Humphries and Lyons will now head to Surrey, BC, for the 2015 Dominion Dart Championships, where they were compete against nine other
provincial teams for top spot.

Similar to this past weekend’s format, the team will play every other team once in a three-game series. The winner with the highest tally of points will be announced at the end of the weekend.

Flin Flon’s foursome has been playing together for the past 15 years with one Dominion level championship experience under their belt.

Prior to Lyons joining the team, Burton, Humphries and Audet had played together for a number of years.

“We want to do a good job representing the province,” said Burton.
