This week in the Sports Experts column, Jeff, Tom, Jason and I weigh-in on the Super Bowl and other mixed-bag topics. A little trash talking, anyone? Apparently not Ð everyone is going with the Eagles. "A word on the chirping back and forth between the Eagles and the Pats. I LOVE IT! It seems these teams really believe they can beat one another, and the fact they are talking smack back and forth, shows they really want it. I'm sick of the Super Bowls where everyone knows who is gonna win before it starts, and no emotion from the other team. GO EAGLES GO! Pats may be a destiny team, but destiny is broken at some point." - Jeff K. "I still like Philly, especially with T.O. in the lineup." - Tom T. "I'm changing my mind. If Terrell Owens is ready to go then the Eagles are winning the Super Bowl. The Eagles can't blow all of these opportunities to win the big game. After losing three consecutive NFC Championship Games they are ready to take the next step." - Jason M. The Toronto Raptors aren't shy when it comes to disciplining their players who get out of line. Rafer Alston was suspended for two games for conduct not befitting the team. . . "I'd like to give props to the Raptors for benching Rafer Alston. The guy has a history of being a bit moody and well, a brat. They suspended him for two games for conduct not befitting the team. That's what the Raps need, to get these guys to understand they are a team, regardless of how well they may be playing. Get rid of the baby Carter, and look what happens! They're going through some growing pains, but they are playing like a team, and give 'em till next year to really show their gusto." - Jeff K. Amateur sports organizations in Canada are joining forces to try and make Canada the top medal contender at the 2010 Olympics. I think Tom sums this one up best: "Is Canada really legit in thinking we will win all these medals at the 2010 games? Did everyone else boycott or what?" - Tom T. How about the SJHL playoff race? I personally like the Yorkton Terriers to come out of the Sherwood Conference unless Chance Gieni steals the show for the Notre Dame Hounds, and in the ITECH Conference the Battlefords North Stars will be tough to beat if Dustin MacDonald is in the zone. How about those Weyburn Red Wings? "I can't believe the Weyburn Redwings are hosting the national championship. It must be nice to win 15 games and play in the Royal Bank Cup. Maybe they're playing possum and waiting for the RBC to explode." - Jason M. "When it comes to the SJHL playoffs, I really do not follow too closely if the Bombers are not in there. I am getting very tired of the Bombers finishing, not only out of the playoffs, but dead last." The Bombers are officially out of the playoffs, but it is anyone's game after that. There is still a lot of positioning to be done in the SJHL, and the story lines will start to unfold in the next two weeks. The Sports Experts are always looking for new members, and new topics.
