The Hapnot Kings senior volleyball team, dubbed as 'The Replacements', won their first tournament of the year, and on home turf. With four of their six starters absent, coaches Mike Nychuk and Craig McIntosh were forced to call some players out of retirement to fill in the gaps. Everyone stepped up their play, and as a result, the Kings were able to win their own tournament, defeating Snow Lake 25-20 in both games of the final. "The guys that we picked up that came out of retirement, they haven't played volleyball for two years," said coach Mike Nychuk. "They exceeded my expectations. Cody Rice, Dave Vandergucht and Shane Pearson really stepped up and hit some nice balls, and our regulars stepped up and tied everything together." Hapnot's junior boys placed third in the tournament. Gilliam defeated Norway House in the girls final 26-24 and 25-13, with Hapnot coming in third place.
