Flin Flon's Whitney Forum and Creighton's Sportex were the scene of the Flin Flon Midget 'AA' and 'A' Hockey Tournament. There were eight teams in the 'AA' tournament, from The Pas, Split Lake, Flin Flon, Cross Lake, OCN, Thompson, Norway House and Cranberry Portage. There were also four teams in the 'A' division of the tournament, which were Flin Flon, The Pas, Cross Lake and Nelson House. The organizers said they were disappointed in the crowds, as there was some very entertaining hockey played. "There were some great games, and a lot of good hockey," said Trent Boak, a minor hockey coach. "There are a lot of skilled players, if they just stay with it." The tournament went smoothly other than some ice problems at Cranberry Portage which meant some games had to be rescheduled to the Sportex. The organizers were pleased at how well the games went. There were even a couple that ended in a tie. The overall winners of the 'AA' Tournament were The Pas Huskies who went through the tournament undefeated, winning over the Cross Lake team 7-2 in the final. In the other 'AA' game Sunday afternoon saw Norway House and the Thompson King Miners play to a 3-3 tie. In the 'A' pool the final saw Cross Lake defeat Nelson House 7-2. In an earlier game, Flin Flon defeated The Pas 7-5 in a well played game, giving Flin Flon third place in the 'A' pool.
