August 10, 2007 marked an important day for the members of the Flin Flon Region Taekwondo. Trevor Loat and Wendy Murray-Tyson both received their 2nd Dan Black Bekt level. Sherri Hedman, Rauni Berezitzky and Crystal Suderman received their 1st Dan Black Belt level. Kary Rutherford received her 1st Poom Black Belt level. All students under the age of 15 in Taekwondo receive a Poom Belt, a black and red belt, which recognizes their acheiving the level of a Black Belt. When they reach 15, they retest to prove they are now full black belt members. A highlight of the day was when Sherri Hedman received an Improved Award. All of the students were well prepared excited to receive acknowledgement for the work they have done to acheive these levels. After the test, students celebrated the 31st Anniversary of Kang's Toekwondo Academy in Manitoba. Many students were notminated for different awards from all the different branches of Kang's Taekwondo Academy for this ceremony. Although heir local instructor, Master Andy Jedele, nominated a number of students, the competition was strong. Mr. Aaron Chigol won Best Rolse Model for his commitement and high level of training. The next step for the Flin Flon Region is preparing for the inter-academy tournament that will be held in Swan River October 20, 2007.
