According to their swimming coach, the Aqua Jets have leaps and bounds since the start of the swimming season. And it was all too true as the team made their way to another swim meet recently, in Thompson. The team, mainly girls, competed against not only themselves in this small meet, but teams from Thompson and The Pas as well. Returning coach Mark Fenske says heÕs just so proud of everyone. ÒItÕs amazing how far they have come. There were some people who couldnÕt swim the length of the pool, but now they are doing just great,Ó says the enthusiastic young coach. The Aqua Jets, who are in the pool a few times a week, have been able to beat their own times in the pool, as Fenske says some are starting to move into the next category. ÒThere are the three groups, A, B and C. And there are a few who are getting ready to move into group B,Ó he says, adding that before a swimmer can move from group to group, they must pass a certain time. And while the team has a bit of a break in between meets, they are preparing to host their own meet as well. The Flin Flon Aqua Centre will be hosting a meet in May, but before that, the team will be traveling for another meet in March.
