Outrun, outhit and outplay. Those were the tactics of the SWAT team in winning the Flin Flon-Creighton Mixed Slo-Pitch League's Perfume Tournament over the weekend. SWAT bested six other teams at Centoba Park, including a lopsided 15-7 victory in the final game against the Dirty Dozen. "We started off slow early in the tournament and we just progressively kept getting better and better," said SWAT manager Chad McPherson. "That final game our sticks came alive, our defence was good and the score kind of showed it." McPherson added that the championship match-up was anybody's game until about the sixth inning when SWAT started to pull away. With their victory, SWAT had the option of taking home either a keg or its cash value of $250. They took the money. League President Anita Pruden was thrilled with the quality of the baseball. "There's been some real close games. It's been crazy," she said as the bright summer sun reflected off her dark sunglasses. Pruden was equally pleased with the turnout of spectators eager to cheer on their friends and family members from the bleachers. "This one was just for fun," she commented. All but two of the league's nine teams competed in the tournament. Each left with a prize. Here were the final standings: 1st - SWAT 2nd - Dirty Dozen 3rd - Burkee's Bedlam 4th - With Themselves 5th - Piranhas 6th - Di-Hards 7th - Finger Blasters6/21/2006
