Compiled by Kelly Carrington The Flin Flon Swamp Donkeys, a mixed slo pitch team made up of players from various teams in the Flin Flon Creighton Slo Pitch League, picked up first place in a tournament in The Pas. Earning first place and $2,500 last weekend, the Swamp Donkeys played and won eight games. Undefeated in the tournament, the team had 140 runs over the eight games _ working out to roughly 17 runs per game. 'When you hit like that, no one is going to beat you in any tournament,' said player Brian Zerbin. In the final it was the Swamp Donkeys against The Pas' Jacs were Flin Flon came out 24-12 for the win. 'It was an overall great weekend of defense and solid hitting' said player Ryan Karakochuk. 'I was really impressed by the whole 12 players on the team and the amount of two-out clutch hitting everyone did.' Cory Grant was awarded MVP for the men throughout the tournament. The majority of the Swamp Donkeys will prepare for Provincials, to be held in Winnipeg over the September long weekend. Making up the team are Connie Hynes, Kathryn Church, Amber Kubat, Ryan Trumbley, Ian Church, Colin Hynes, Cory Grant, Ryan Karakochuk, Brendan Barron, Alan Church, Brian Zerbin and Morgan Grant.
