Summer in the Parks gets underway today at noon. If you haven't registered yet, just head to the Recreation Office in the Community Hall to sign up now. Register for the whole summer, weekly, or if you want to just come check out what we are all about, sign up for the day! Each week will offer something new and fun. Week one will focus on getting to know the kids and welcoming them to the program. There will be many activities centred on each child's name and their favourite things. This week we will also be visiting the Joe Brain Children's Petting Zoo, and the Northern Lights Manor to visit with the seniors. Some of the other activities this week include show and tell day and a fun nametag craft. Week two is I Love the Environment Week. We will be touring the Recycling Centre to see what types of things we can be recycling and how they run the Recycling Centre in our community. We will also be taking the kids on a nature walk with a nature scavenger hunt to follow. The kids will also get to plant their own flower and make a cool garden decoration for their parents' or grandparents' garden. Week three is "Got Milk?" Week. This week will focus on how important milk is for the body, especially while growing up. We will be visiting the Co-op bakery to decorate our own cupcakes and touring the rest of the grocery store to see how things run. Our "Got Milk?" wouldn't be complete without a milk and cookie day, where we will munch on cookies and read some of our favourite stories. There are plenty more fun, exciting and educational activities planned, so come join us at the Willowvale Park wading pool. Remember, it's not too late to register! If you have any questions, please feel free to call the Recreation Office at 681-7542.
