ÒItÕs not as messy as paintballÓ and ÒItÕs not supposed to hurt as muchÓ could be some of the comments mothers of Creighton Community School students heard over the February break. The Sportex was turned into an obstacle course for Airsoft. The game, which is similar to paintball, had about 50 kids show up over a three-day period for the challenge. Creighton Community School, in partnership with the Town of Creighton Recreation Department held the game for a couple of afternoons during the week of February 19. Each day there was a different purpose for the game. The first day was spent more or less learning how to play, as some had never played Airsoft or paintball. Once the initial understanding of the game was down, the next day turned into more of a capture the flag version, keeping everyone active. And the final day was a blackout as the lights were turned off and the lasers were turned on. From what she could see, Channa Senyk, with the Town of Creighton, says everyone enjoyed themselves. ÒThere was something different every day. And itÕs something you learn as you go,Ó she says.
