Students from Northlands College's Pre-carpentry course began work on golf cart sheds for the Phantom Lake Golf Course (PLGC) earlier this summer. Under the instruction of journeyman Monty Beck, students Russell Custer, Willson James, Oliver Ballantyne, Julian Sewep and Floyd Ballantyne help construct 41 sheds for the club. For now, the sheds will remain for the users of the golf course Ð under ownership of PLGC Ð with rental agreements to come in future years. Along with golf carts, golfing accessories will be stored in the sheds Ð which are located behind the golf course and beside the Phantom Lake beach. Through working on the sheds and the rest of the program, the students will each earn 300 trade hours Ð which can be put towards a trade apprenticeship. Work began on the sheds July 6 and will wrap up on Friday.
