Storzuk, Penner to suit up for Falcons

Th e F l i n F l o n B omb e r s a r e p l e a s e d t o announce that 1992 born forward Riley Storzuk (Wynyard, SK) has committed to Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons NCAA Division III men's hockey team for the 2013-14 season. Storzuk played his whole junior career with the Bombers compiling 131 points (46 goals and 85 assists) in 153 career games, including 57 points (18 goals and 39 assists) in 44 games this past season. He earned top spot with the Maroon and White and fourth overall with the SJHL. 'We are very happy for Riley,' said head coach and GM Mike Reagan. 'Concordia is getting a gutsy player that played as hard defensively as he did offensively. He never cheated you with his effort.' This is the second Bomber that is suiting up for the Falcons in the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association this coming season. Flin Flon announced earlier that Brett Penner had also committed to the school. 'Riley will be an immediate impact player for us this fall,' said CUW Assistant Coach Zach Gaynor. 'His leadership, hard work and offensive abilities will help round out our defensive production.' That now puts five players in total moving on to further their careers through the collegiate path. Earlier in the off seas o n Dy l an Ba l a sk i (SAIT), Konrad Litke (Augustana) and Jason Wark (NAIT) all committed to schools for the upcoming season. 1992 born Penner will suit up for the Falcons this coming season. He finished his third season with the Bombers with 29 points _ 15 goals and 14 assists _ in the regular season along with nine points from the playoffs. In his last 11 games of the season, Penner picked up six goals and three assists. Ov e r a l l , P e n n e r picked up a combined 90 points, 40 goals, and 50 assists in 136 games in his junior career _ 127 of which were with Flin Flon after acquiring him from Kindersley. 'Brett is a very skilled player and he showed a lot of change and maturity coming back to us t h i s s e a s o n , ' s a i d Reagan. 'He's evolved as a player and as a humanbeing and we couldn't be happier for him.' The Falcons finished their last season with a 7-18-0 record in the tough Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association. 'We improved our team speed with the addition of Penner,' said Gaynor.
