The Selkirk Steelers are three wins away from winning the Turnbull Cup as they defeated the Portage Terriers 6-2 on home ice Friday night with 2570 on hand to watch. The Steelers raced out to a 3-0 lead after one period and never looked back, although the Terriers cut the margin to 4-2 at the end of two. Chris Stelmack had two for Selkirk and Travis Kornelson chipped in with three assists. Jordy Black, Jamie Dowhayko, Steve Lajoie, and Dustin Hughes rounded out the scoring for the Steelers. Colin Slobodian and Aaron Hareuther answered for the Terriers. Shots were 45-27 in favor of the Steelers, who used Justin Harris in goal over 20-year-old veteran Bryn Davies. Portage tried a similar track by going back to Stefan Drew after Anthony Marshall took over to lead the Terriers to four straight wins in the last round.
