The proof is in the stats Ð with another successful season under their belts, the Flin Flon Bombers have nearly 100 players interested in their spring camp. The camp, being held in Saskatoon, is open to players from Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta. This weekend, Bomber head coach and GM Mike Reagan will be looking at 14 goalies and roughly 85 skaters. With 100 players out for the first camp, things are looking up for the Maroon and White as they are up 45 in numbers. The spring camp gives Reagan, along with assistant coach Trevor Sack and a the scouting team, a good idea of what to expect for the main camp. "There are no real decisions made (at spring camp)," says Reagan. "We're looking for the type of players that will be a good contribution to the team now and in the future." Aside from looking for the obvious in a player, Reagan says they will be looking for the guys with "passion and grit." As well, the Bombers are looking to gain strength this season, so it's something the coaches and scouts will be looking for. The spring camp has been successful in the past for the Maroon and White as Michael Young, Devin Mitzner, Ben Bitz, David Dykstra, Tanner Korchinski and Dominic Martel have all signed with the Bombers recently. Out of spring camp this weekend, Reagan is hoping to identify the top 50 players and invite them back to the main camp, which is held in August in Flin Flon. Things get underway at the Jemini Arena today and continue on until Sunday for spring camp.
