The NCAA Division 1 Men's Basketball Championships ended on Monday, after four weeks of first rate hoops. This week, Barry gives us a final look at the tournament. As well, baseball season got underway on Sunday. Here is what Barry had to say about the Tar Heels' win on Monday. "Thousands of fans flooded the streets in Chapel Hill, North Carolina following the Tar Heels' victory over Illinois Monday night in the NCAA Division 1 Men's Basketball championship. After struggling to advance to the final four, it was fitting to see top-ranked Illinois and #3 UNC in the final game.ÊIllinois easily advanced by downing Louisville 72-57 and North Carolina beat the upstart Michigan State Spartans 87-71 on Saturday night. The championship game saw the Tar Heels take it to Illinois in the first half and grab a 40-27 lead at half-time.ÊBut, the Fighting Illini never gave up and came out fired up in the second half.ÊThey shot five straight 3-point field goals and tied the score a couple of times before UNC moved ahead for good in the final minute. North Carolina's Sean May was named the game's MVP, scoring 26 points and winning a national championship on his 21st Birthday.ÊIt was the Tar Heel's first crown since 1993, and ended Illinois' bid for their first ever title." - Barry H. Baseball season started on Sunday. While I'm not going to hold my breathe when it comes to the Blue Jays, I'm excited that there will be something on TSN other than dog shows and spelling bees. I'd like to see the Cubs finally win to break their goat curse, but I can't see that happening either. "While it would be awesome to see a World Series back in Canada, I don't see that happening anytime soon.ÊWith the former Expos now playing in Washington, D.C., that leaves the Blue Jays. I'll be surprised if the Jays finish above 5th place in their division.ÊIt may sound a bit repetitive, but watch for the Yankees, Red Sox and Braves come October." - Barry H.
