Hapnot Collegiate will be hosting the Zone 11 Soccer Championships at the Phantom Lake soccer pitch this weekend. The Hapnot girls will be looking to defend the championship and win their fourth consecutive banner, and the boys will be looking for their first title. Both teams will have a tough battle, as the field of competing teams has more than doubled from last year. Six girls teams and seven boys teams will be vying for the top spot and the right to represent Zone 11 in the Provincial Championships in October. The winner of the boys will advance to the Provincials in Birtle, while the girls winner will advance to Provincials in Shoal Lake. Both tournaments will be held on October 17 and 18. Hapnot Collegiate, Frontier Collegiate and Joe A. Ross will be in Girls Pool 'A', while R.D. Parker, Norway House and Otter Nelson will be in Girls Pool 'B'. In Boys Pool 'A', Hapnot, Frontier, Joe A. Ross and J.H. Kerr will play three games each, while R.D. Parker, Norway House and Otter Nelson will play two round robin games. Parker vs. Otter Nelson 4:30 p.m. - Girls Final A concession will run at the field all day on Friday and Saturday, with proceeds going to the Hapnot Athletic Council. Also on the go at Hapnot right now are golf, volleyball and cross country running. Hapnot will be hosting a senior volleyball tournament on the weekend of September 26 and 27. The senior boys will be traveling to Portage on October 3 and 4. Also on October 3 and 4, the cross country team will be in Grande Rapids for Zones. Golf Zones are in The Pas this weekend.
