Plans for having the first game ever on the Creighton Soccer Field will have to wait a bit longer. According to recreation director Channa Senyk, the field is not quite ready. "The field is going to need to sit for the season," she says, adding that "we're going to have to make sure the edges and seams are all down." With all the work and preparation taking place, Senyk says the field should be in great shape for next season. "We have ordered nets, but I think we're just going to keep them off until the spring," she says, noting that she doesn't want anything to happen to the new nets. Senyk had hoped the field would be ready in time to have a celebrity game and a ribbon-cutting toward the end of this month. "We're hoping to have it in the spring now," she says. As for the celebrity game itself, Senyk says the people she has mentioned it to all seem to be excited. If all goes well, Senyk hopes to have representation from the Bombers, Hapnot Kweens, RCMP and fire department, among others.
