More snowmobilers are taking advantage of SaskatchewanÕs unique network of trails this year. Snowmobile registration sales are up 5.3 per cent as of January 2008 which means a greater investment in the provinceÕs trails. ÒSnowmobiling is a major component of SaskatchewanÕs growing winter tourism and recreation sectors and an important driver of economic activity in the province,Ó Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Christine Tell said. ÒEvery year more Saskatchewan residents and tourists are taking advantage of the unique winter recreation opportunities this province has to offer.Ó Through an agreement with the Saskatchewan Snowmobile Association (SSA), government returns all revenue from snowmobile registrations to the SSA as an investment in trail grooming and expansion. The Saskatchewan Snowmobile Association has a beautifully groomed network of trails reaching across 10,000 kilometers of our great Saskatchewan prairie. Trails are equipped with ÒYou Are HereÓ signs at every snowmobile intersection - a safety initiative only Saskatchewan can boast of across Canada.
